Google Pixel 2 Camera Specs
As you have already heard, DXOmark has given the highest rating ever for Pixel 2 Cameras. It gets a score of 98. Recently launched iPhone 8 Plus has a lesser score at 94.
Pixel 2 features a 12.2 MP F1.8 aperture main shooter and an 8MP F2.4 aperture front camera for your selfies. Both feature 1.4μm pixel size which is slightly lesser than original Pixel’s 1.55μm. Both front and rear cameras support Portrait mode ( even though there is only a single camera ) and Google’s famed HDR Plus.
Pixel 2 Cameras achieve Autofocus with laser + dual pixel phase detection combination. It also has both Optical Image stabilization ( OIS ) and Electronics Image Stabilization ( EIS ) and activate both during 4K and 1080P Full HD recording. This is great if you take a lot of videos and don’t wanna carry around a mini gimbal or a tripod.
1080P Full HD recording at 30fps, 60fps and 120fps are supported. It also takes 4K videos at 30fps. iPhone 8 and 8 Plus can record 4K @ 60fps thanks to it’s high end fast A11 processor inside.
Like last year’s Pixel Phones, these 2nd generation devices also have unlimited Google Photos cloud storage. You can upload every photo and video taken on these devices to Cloud in it’s original quality. For other Android smartphone users, Google Photos only gives unlimited High Quality uploads which are compresses files.
